The mission of St. Charles Sister Cities Programs, Inc. – Irish Chapter is to encourage and implement high quality programs that foster mutual understanding, friendship and goodwill through cultural, social, business and educational exchanges between Saint Charles and Inishowen, Ireland.

Inishowen was chosen for its strong interest in student exchanges and its meaningful connection to the many Irish roots in the St. Charles area. Its rural lifestyle offers a unique cultural experience while sharing similarities with the Midwest. Together, Inishowen and St. Charles promote authentic community experiences beyond typical tourist destinations on both sides of the Atlantic.
Irish Educational Exchange Programs
SCSC-IC also has a student exchange each year. This rotating exchange, odd years, Ireland comes to the states and even years, the states go to Ireland. Students stay with host families, go on excursions, attend school and discover the diverse world around them.

Missouri River Irish Fest
Each year, the St. Charles Sister Cities – Irish Chapter hosts a three-day Irish Festival featuring live music and dancing, cultural exhibits, vendors, authentic food, and a family-friendly children’s village. Drawing more than 8,000 visitors, it’s one of the largest Irish festivals in the Midwest, made possible by the dedication of our volunteers and committee members.
